There’s enough blame to go around about the Pandemic to last a lifetime. The panic is pliable, and you can read the impulse on the faces of strangers, and their reticence is daunting. No one seems to really know what’s happening to the world, and the Pandemic that we once thought was ending, seems to be regaining its violent strength.
Are the Pandemic and the deadly viruses God’s warning to the world of what’s to come or has a mad scientist gone rogue? Although this may be very controversial, it must be said! The Bible does speak to God sending Pestilence, Plagues, and Global Pandemics, however, does the COVID- 19, and other variants fit into the perspective of the message from God?
The “PLAGUE” is used countless times in the Bible, along with how some took the occasion to repent, while others continued in their sins. At the least by virtue of you reading this blog, you could be facing divine judgment for your un-repented sin, or maybe it’s to wake you up from your spiritual slumber, rebellion, or to re-engage your personal relationship with God.
Either way, there is a shaking going on and the beginning of sorrows are on the horizon. Jesus was clear in his warning to his disciples that “pestilences” would be the signs of the “last days”, yes the shaking is here.
Matthew 24:3-8 – “Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to
He privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the
sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to
them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name,
saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and
rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to
pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in
various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” (New King James Version,
Is there any good news? Yes, the morality of the world is in question, and more importantly, ungodliness has run rampant in the earth. But does the pandemic give way to repentance for you, or does it anger you even more? Truthfully, this is more of an opportunity for repentance and reflection than it is for anger and frustration. Use this time to slow down, to take an introspective look at yourself, and then ask yourself if this “shaking” draws you closer to God or does it push you away? Before you make that final decision take a look at these profound biblical passages.
2 Chronicles 7:14
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Jeremiah 18:7-8 – “At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or
concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it. If that nation
against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the
calamity I planned to bring on it.” (NASB
Luke 21:28, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
Consider this an opportunity to personally humble yourself, to repent, lament in prayer, and ready yourself for the return of Christ. Since no one knows when that will be, live every day like it’s your last, and walk-in confidence and peace that God hears you when you pray, and your end will undoubtedly be better than your beginning.
Job 8:7 – Then, even if your beginnings were modest, your final days will be full of prosperity. AMP
