Some people say you “should never burn bridges”. But It’s perfectly okay to burn life bridges that are in need of demolition!

Some people that you meet are designed to come through your life, not in it. Unfortunately, you will only discover that after the bridge has become squeaky and faulty. Bridges are structures that provide passage over obstacles, bodies of water, valleys, or rails. Think about the physical bridge as you would a person or persons in your life. As do bridges, people in your life should create support, inspire, lift you up, is gracious, kind, loving, and covers you in time of a crisis.

The goal is to be a bridge for others and only cross bridges that are well built, well made, powerful, robust, and dependable. Although the old saying says not to burn bridges, it’s perfectly okay to burn bridges (relationships) that bring distress, is unproductive, and unpliable.

Remember, you are only as good as the closest people in your life. If you choose to continue crossing a deficient bridge, remember it’s your job to help mend the defective parts or engage the demotion with plans for new construction.
